Junior Ecologist — Inverness
Salary: £30,000–£36,000 DOE + benefits Location: Inverness (hybrid / flexible) | Hours: 40 hrs/week | Paid mileage | TOIL Start: ASAP
Role overview
Join a small, friendly environmental consultancy (10–15 staff) as a Junior Ecologist. Support field surveys and reporting across peatland restoration, bats, woodland creation and renewables projects across Scotland. Great development opportunity with hands‑on fieldwork, mentoring and clear progression.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with ecological surveys and data collection (bats, habitats, macroinvertebrates, GWDTE)
- Help prepare technical notes and input to reports
- Support ECoW duties on site under supervision (training provided)
- Travel to remote Scottish sites, including occasional island visits (air travel provided)
- Work with senior staff to deliver project tasks and client communications
Candidate profile
- ~2 years’ experience in ecological consultancy or relevant field roles
- Competent in field survey techniques and data recording
- Good report writing and communication skills
- Willingness to travel to remote sites and work outdoors in variable conditions
- Full UK driving licence preferred
