We are partnering with a fast growth fintech business that is redefining how merchants and partners experience payments technology. They are investing heavily in their engineering capability and now have an exciting opportunity for a Test Engineering Manager to shape and scale a world class testing function during a period of rapid growth and transformation.

The opportunity

This is a senior, hands on leadership role where you will act as a true player coach, setting the technical direction for test engineering while remaining close to the technology.

You will work closely with engineering and product leadership to ensure quality is built in from day one, not bolted on at the end.

You will have the autonomy to design modern testing strategies, influence architecture, introduce progressive tooling, and grow a talented test engineering team capable of supporting a complex, high-availability fintech platform.

What you will be doing

• Defining and leading the overall test engineering strategy, with a strong focus on CI/CD and reducing testing cycle times
• Championing testability throughout the SDLC, collaborating closely with engineers, architects and platform teams
• Building, mentoring and scaling a high performing test engineering team across multiple delivery squads
• Driving the adoption of automation, performance testing and non functional testing best practices
• Influencing cross functional initiatives such as automated environments and modern test toolchains
• Continuously improving team effectiveness through coaching, mentoring and pragmatic process improvement
• Leading test delivery across multiple concurrent initiatives in a fast paced, evolving environment

What they are looking for

• Significant experience in test engineering, including 7+ years in hands-on roles
• Proven experience in a lead, managerial, or supervisory capacity
• Deep knowledge of automated testing and frameworks such as Playwright, SpecFlow, Robot Framework, K6, JMeter (or similar)
• Strong understanding of performance testing strategies and execution
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and tooling (e.g. Azure DevOps, TeamCity, Chef, Ansible or equivalents)
• Ability to design robust test strategies for distributed, hybrid cloud and on prem environments
• Comfortable operating with ambiguity and setting direction in evolving technical landscapes
• A passion for quality, engineering excellence and developing people
