Are you passionate about peatland and its role in climate resilience?

This is an opportunity to join a purpose-driven environmental consultancy of around 25–30 people, where flexibility, trust and meaningful work genuinely sit at the heart of the culture.

We’re supporting them in hiring a Senior Peatland Hydrology Consultant to help deliver high-quality peatland projects across Scotland. You’ll be joining a close-knit, values-led team that balances technical excellence with a practical, client-focused approach - and offers real flexibility, including options such as a 4-day working week or a 9-day fortnight.

 

What You’ll Do

You’ll lead and support peatland hydrology work across rural Scotland, combining field expertise with technical delivery. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading peatland hydrology surveys and assessments
  • Producing Peat Management Plans, restoration designs, feasibility studies and GWDTE/PLHRA assessments
  • Authoring Hydrology, Hydrogeology and Soils chapters for EIARs
  • Working collaboratively with planners, ecologists, engineers and other specialists
  • Engaging with regulators such as SEPA and the EA
  • Contributing to tenders, proposals and wider business development

 

What You’ll Bring

  • 3–5+ years’ experience in peatland hydrology
  • Degree in environmental science or a related discipline
  • Membership of a relevant professional body, ideally working toward chartership
  • Strong understanding of the Peatland Code and Peatland ACTION framework
  • Excellent communication skills and a full UK driving licence
