Salary: £65,000 – £75,000 (DOE), 6K Car Allowance

Eden Scott has partnered with a growing environmental consultancy to appoint a Peatland Hydrology Technical Director.

Role Overview
As Technical Director, you will lead the consultancy’s peatland hydrology, restoration and wider water environment offering. You’ll bring senior-level expertise to complex projects, ensure technical excellence across deliverables, and help strengthen internal capability as the team continues to grow.
Working closely with senior management, you’ll also contribute to continuous improvement, team development and strategic planning - ideal for someone ready to step into a broader leadership role within a mission-driven organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical delivery in peatland hydrology, restoration design and upland land management
- Oversee and contribute to:
- Peat Management Plans
- Hydrology, Hydrogeology and Soils EIAR chapters
- PWS, GWDTE and PLHRA assessments
- Mentor and support team members, identifying skills gaps and development needs
- Maintain best practice, quality assurance and regulatory compliance
- Support business development through proposal writing and client engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators (e.g., SEPA, NatureScot, EA)
- Contribute to internal culture, health and safety, and performance standards
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years’ experience in peatland hydrology or environmental water services
- Degree in environmental science, hydrology or related discipline (MSc/PhD advantageous)
- Chartered status with a recognised professional body (CIWEM, IEMA, ICE, etc.)
- Strong understanding of UK peatland policy and guidance (including the Peatland Code and Peatland ACTION)
- Proven experience delivering work for the renewables or utilities sectors
- Excellent communication skills, including stakeholder negotiation
- Demonstrable track record in project delivery and client relationship management
