About the Company

This boutique consultancy has built a strong reputation for high-quality ecological work across Scotland, particularly within the renewables sector. With a growing portfolio of overhead line (OHL) and wider infrastructure projects, they are now looking to appoint a Senior Ornithologist who can take ownership of fieldwork, reporting, and client engagement while helping shape the future of the ecology team.

 

The Role

As Senior Ornithologist, you will:

  • Lead and deliver ornithological surveys across Scotland, often in remote locations
  • Manage field programmes, data analysis, and technical reporting
  • Support assessments for renewables and OHL projects
  • Work closely with clients, project managers, and internal specialists
  • Contribute to the continued growth and development of the ecology function
  • Represent the business with professionalism, technical confidence, and a solutions-focused approach

This is a fully remote role, with travel to sites as required.

 

 

 

What You’ll Need

  • 5+ years’ experience in ornithology/ecology
  • Schedule 1 licence holder (essential)
  • Strong background in bird survey design, delivery, and reporting
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to remote sites
  • Experience within renewables, infrastructure, or OHL projects (desirable)
  • Ability to work independently within a small, high-performing team
