Senior Cost Engineer

Purpose:

Responsible for delivering effective cost control, forecasting and reporting across projects or a portfolio of projects. Ensures project costs are accurately managed, reported and forecast, providing clear visibility of performance against budgets, plans and forecasts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain Master Control Estimates (MCE) and manage re-baselining when required.
• Monitor project commitments, actuals and forecasts, providing accurate cost reporting and variance analysis.
• Produce Estimates at Completion (EAC), cost reports, accruals and S-Curves.
• Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to assess and report project performance.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers and Contractors to challenge cost performance and improve forecast accuracy.
• Support portfolio reporting and ensure compliance with the Projects Operating Rhythm.
• Liaise with the SAP team to ensure Purchase Orders are correctly allocated to WBS structures and support timely PO and WBS close-out.
• Create Purchase Requisitions and Service Entries as required.
• Drive continuous improvement in cost reporting, SAP data quality and project controls processes.
• Promote a strong safety culture and work in line with company values and behaviours.

Skills & Experience:

• Strong project cost control and forecasting experience.
• Good understanding of project controls, including cost, planning, risk, change management and EVM.
• Experienced SAP user, including reporting and analysis of WBS, PO and project cost data.
• Advanced Excel and Microsoft 365 skills.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to challenge assumptions and identify trends.
• Able to build effective working relationships across project teams and contractors.

Qualifications:

• Project Controls, Cost Engineering or equivalent experience.
• APM or PMI qualification desirable.
• Experience operating at Senior Cost Engineer level preferred.
