Are you a Workday expert who thrives at the intersection of people, processes, and technology? Do you love turning complexity into clarity, leading high performing teams, and shaping how organisations use their people systems? If so, this role offers the opportunity to lead a talented, stable team through an exciting period of evolution.
About the Role
We’re looking for a People Systems Manager to lead the Workday Tooling & Reporting function. You will oversee a team across Edinburgh, Glasgow, and London, ensuring the smooth running and continuous improvement of their People systems landscape, with Workday at the centre.
You will act as the product owner for Workday, managing inbound requests, prioritising competing demands, driving process improvements, and partnering with cross functional teams to deliver scalable, user-friendly solutions.
This role requires a blend of leadership, hands on problem solving, and strong stakeholder management. You will help translate technical Workday concepts into meaningful business outcomes, ensuring processes and data flow support their people strategy.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading and developing a team across People Tooling and Reporting, including team leads and individual contributors.
- Managing Workday as a product: triaging requests, prioritising workloads, and allocating resources.
- Owning delivery of BAU activity while driving continuous improvement across systems and processes.
- Acting as a trusted partner to People, Finance, Employee Enablement, and other key functions.
- Running weekly cross-functional sessions with Finance to align on active and upcoming Workday-related projects.
- Reviewing and improving complex processes (e.g., employee movements, pay changes, reporting flows).
- Ensuring data accuracy, governance, and integrity across Workday and associated systems.
- Translating stakeholder needs into scalable Workday solutions that support strategic HR outcomes.
- Supporting upcoming Workday releases, audits, reporting cycles, and project roadmaps.
- Promoting best practice documentation, user guidance, and improved self-service capability.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience leading People Systems, HRIS, or People Analytics teams in a complex environment.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Workday HCM, ideally having been a “customer” within a People function.
- A leader who brings structure, clarity, and calm to high-volume, high-impact work.
- Someone who can balance strategic thinking with practical delivery.
- A confident partner to Finance and senior stakeholders, adept at navigating competing priorities.
- Strong process design and problem solving skills, with an eye for simplification and efficiency.
- Excellent communication skills: able to “translate” Workday language into business-friendly insights.
- Comfortable leading teams through change while maintaining quality and continuity
Why This Role Matters
This team is the engine room of how the organisation uses Workday. You’ll be at the heart of how People operations function, enabling better data, smoother processes, clearer reporting, and a stronger employee experience. You’ll help shape how the organisation uses systems not just today, but in the years ahead.
