Are you an experienced Hydrocarbon Accountant with strong analytical skills and a passion for accuracy and operational excellence? We're looking for a proactive individual to join our client and play a key role in delivering critical hydrocarbon accounting and reporting activities. The Role
As a Hydrocarbon Accountant, you will support daily and monthly allocation activities for onshore and offshore assets, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements. You’ll work closely with metering teams, commercial advisors, finance, and external stakeholders to maintain high-quality hydrocarbon accounting standards.
You’ll also support the operational management of oil sales contracts and contribute to system improvements, metering compliance, and the investigation of allocation anomalies.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily allocation processes and produce associated reports.
- Execute monthly allocation processes for pipeline systems.
- Collaborate with Finance to calculate and implement production adjustments.
- Monitor performance of offshore metering systems and support compliance activities.
- Identify and report anomalies in terminal allocations.
- Manage and track pipeline and terminal stocks.
- Support the operational management of UK oil sales contracts.
- Assist in the coordination of repairs and maintenance for metering equipment.
- Contribute to tendering, contract monitoring, and budget control.
- Coordinate subcontractor activities when required.
- Provide full hydrocarbon accounting coverage during staff absences.
- Attend partner, regulator, and third-party meetings as required.
- Undertake occasional visits to pipeline terminals.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Strong understanding of metering, measurement, and hydrocarbon allocation processes.
- Knowledge of hydrocarbon allocation systems.
- Experience with North Sea shipping operations.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and database/presentation tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work proactively and use initiative.
- Confident liaising with multiple disciplines and external parties.
- Ability to supervise Technical Assistants and subcontractors when required.
Preferred
- Experience with terminal and pipeline hydrocarbon accounting.
- Understanding of commercial and financial principles.
- Ability to support and coach team members.
Qualifications
- Degree or professional qualification in an engineering discipline (or equivalent).
- Relevant industry experience is essential.
- Experience in a similar hydrocarbon accounting role is advantageous.
