Employee Owned Consultancy (sub 400 headcount)
We’re looking for an Environmental Clerk of Works (EnvCoW) to support a range of construction projects across Scotland. You’ll monitor on-site activities to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, planning conditions, method statements, and agreed protection measures. The role can be based in either of our client’s central Scotland offices and offers a blend of site work, office work, and home working.
You’ll play a key role in promoting environmental best practice on construction sites while providing clear, practical advice to clients and site teams. The position offers variety, autonomy, and the opportunity to influence how environmental standards are delivered on the ground.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site inspections and assess environmental protection measures
- Support compliance with ecological method statements, management plans, and planning conditions
- Advise on protected species legislation and habitat safeguards
- Oversee mitigation measures such as fencing, buffer zones, and pollution controls
- Monitor works in sensitive habitats including watercourses and woodlands
- Supervise activities affecting protected species where required
- Produce clear site reports and maintain accurate environmental records
- Provide updates to clients, project managers, and regulators

Experience & Qualifications
Essential: Relevant degree; construction-site experience; knowledge of environmental legislation; strong reporting skills; confident communicator; ability to work independently; good understanding of site health and safety.
Desirable: CSCS card; combined ecological/environmental CoW experience; water quality monitoring; 4x4 training.
