Stock Controller
- Paisley
- Competitive
- Permanent
For over 25 years, The Wooden Floor Store has supplied customers across the UK and Ireland with high-quality flooring backed by honest advice and exceptional service. Operating across Scotland and England, we continue to expand our retail, warehousing, and logistics operations.
Our culture is built on our RISE values:
Reputation – Accuracy, reliability, and doing things the right way
Innovation – Embracing smarter systems, technology, and new ways of working
Service – Supporting colleagues and customers through excellent stock control
Expertise – Understanding our products, processes, and systems in depth
Why This Role Is Different
This is not a passive or purely administrative stock role.
We are looking for a Stock Controller who can own and develop the stock control function, combining hands-on accuracy with a clear view of how systems, processes, and reporting should evolve as the business grows.
This is a permanent role, offering stability and the opportunity to take real ownership of stock accuracy, visibility, and process improvement across the business.
You will play a key role in helping modernise our stock operations, improving how stock is organised, tracked, transferred, and communicated across multiple locations.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for maintaining accurate stock levels across all stores and warehouses, ensuring data integrity within our stock systems, and helping improve stock processes over time.
This role suits someone who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves in the short term, while also thinking ahead about how stock control should operate in 6, 12, and 24 months’ time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate stock levels across all stores and warehouse locations
- Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies, shortages, and misallocations
- Carry out regular cycle counts and support quarterly stock takes
- Ensure all stock adjustments, transfers, and write-offs are processed correctly
- Use Unleashed (or similar stock management software) daily for stock control and reporting
- Support forecasting and demand planning using system data
- Improve stock organisation to support accuracy, traceability, and visibility across sites
- Help develop clearer stock movement processes between locations
- Support improvements in supplier ETA tracking and internal communication
- Work closely with Finance, Warehouse, Area Managers, and Store Teams to ensure stock information is understood and acted upon
Experience:
- Experience in stock control or inventory management
- Confident using stock systems (e.g. Unleashed) with strong Excel skills
- High attention to detail with excellent numeracy and accuracy
- Able to investigate issues methodically and suggest practical solutions
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of outcomes
