Senior Ecologist

Senior Ecologist – Scotland | £35,000 - £40,000 (DOE)

An established ecological consultancy is looking for a Senior Ecologist to join their team and support a wide range of projects across Scotland and the UK.

This role offers a mix of fieldwork and office-based delivery, with the opportunity to lead surveys, manage projects, mentor junior staff, and contribute to high-quality ecological reporting and assessments.

What you’ll be doing:

• Leading habitat and species surveys across Scotland

• Producing EcIAs, management plans, and technical reports

• Providing ecological advice to clients and project teams

• Supporting junior colleagues through mentoring and supervision

• Managing project timelines, deliverables, and quality

• Contributing to proposals, business development, and CPD

• Working flexibly during peak survey seasons (May–September)

What we’re looking for:

• Strong knowledge of Scottish ecological legislation

• Consultancy experience and confident report writing

• CIEEM membership (or eligibility)

• GIS/data analysis skills

• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel

• Relevant degree in ecology, zoology, environmental management, or similar

• Physically fit for outdoor fieldwork in varied conditions

• Interest in gaining protected species licences
