Senior Ecologist — Inverness
Salary: £40,000–£45,000 + excellent benefits
Location: Inverness (hybrid / flexible)
Start date: ASAP
Join a purpose-driven environmental consultancy of around 10–15 people as a Senior Ecologist. This is a role where you’ll genuinely shape your workload, lead a small team (2-3), and work across a diverse portfolio of projects - from peatland restoration and woodland creation to bats, habitats and renewable energy schemes across Scotland.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading and delivering ecological surveys and technical reports (bats, habitats, peatland, GWDTE)
- Providing occasional ECoW support (training provided if needed)
- Mentoring and managing a team of 2–3 ecologists
- Building strong client relationships and supporting delivery across wind, housing and woodland projects
- Travelling to remote sites including Skye and the Western Isles (air travel provided)
What You’ll Bring
- Experience in ecological consultancy or a closely related field
- Strong survey skills, data handling ability and high-quality report writing
- Confidence leading small teams and supporting junior colleagues
- Solid understanding of UK wildlife legislation, planning and survey standards
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly (including island flights)
- Experience in renewables, housing or habitat creation is beneficial
