Principal Botanist Scotland (Hybrid)

Location: Glasgow, Scotland
Salary: £46,000 £56,000 (DOE)

Working Model: Hybrid with travel to sites and offices as required

We are seeking a Principal Botanist to join an expanding ecology team in Scotland (30 headcount at present). This is an opportunity for someone who is passionate about botanical survey work, habitat assessment and delivering high-quality ecological advice to clients across a wide range of sectors.

About the Role

As a Principal Botanist, you will play a key role in the management, delivery and oversight of botanical projects across Scotland and beyond. You will lead on survey design, technical reporting, project management and client engagement, while supporting and mentoring junior colleagues.

You will be involved in:

  • Leading and coordinating Phase 1 habitat surveys and NVC / Phase 2 botanical surveys
  • Designing and implementing mitigation strategies
  • Managing project finances and ensuring high-quality delivery
  • Preparing tenders, fee proposals and technical reports
  • Providing technical leadership and mentoring within the team
  • Working independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary projects

About You

Experience & Skills (please apply if you meet 70%+)

  • Significant experience in botanical survey work, ideally within a consultancy environment
  • Ability to undertake and lead a full range of botanical surveys
  • Strong report writing skills, including survey reports, EcIAs, HRAs and tenders
  • Full UK driving licence
  • FISC Level 4
  • Membership of CIEEM
