Our client is seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer to work within a small multidisciplinary design group. This group collaborates closely with our clients, requiring creative mechanical design solutions. Your key area of responsibility is the creation of accurate SolidWorks 3-D CAD designs, to meet the requirements specification of the customer.

You will be responsible for the mechanical aspects of the design through the full product lifecycle, from concept design and prototype build through to transfer into production and manufacture. This requires skilled risk assessment and often new process development.

This position is suitable for a candidate from a strong mechanical engineering design background with the technical ability and confidence to learn and understand new engineering disciplines and contribute to a dynamic multidisciplinary environment.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record of providing creative design solutions and a proactive, self-motivated desire to learn new technology and have a determined approach to succeed.

Above all we are seeking someone with imagination, innovation, problem-solving and creative skills. However, equally as important is that you are comfortable and proficient in hands-on prototype assembly, have a high level of attention to detail and are proficient in using general workshop tools.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Generate conceptual CAD models to meet customer requirements.
• Create detailed manufacturing drawings and instructions.
• Provide hands-on engineering support to production technicians for complex products and processes.
• Provide bespoke designs for fixtures to support manufacturing requirements.
• Liaise and collaborate with customer engineering and design teams.

What We’re Looking For:

• Educated to Degree level in a mechanical engineering discipline.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in an engineering role requiring SolidWorks CAD skills (preferably 5 years).
• Hands-on mechanical engineering and assembly background.
• Design of fixtures for accurate machining and assembly processes.
