About the Opportunity

A fantastic opportunity has opened for a Junior Ornithologist with around 13 yearsexperience to join a highly respected environmental consultancy with a strong reputation for professional project delivery and exceptional technical standards.

With 2530 staff in Scotland and an additional 120150 across the UK, this is a well-established, recognised brand known for developing talented people and delivering high-quality work across the renewables, utilities, and residential sectors.

Youll be joining a supportive, multidisciplinary team where youll gain exposure to a wide range of projects, benefit from structured development, and work alongside some of the most experienced ecologists and ornithologists in the UK.

What Youll Be Doing

  • Supporting ornithological surveys across Scotland, including vantage point, breeding bird, and wintering bird surveys.
  • Assisting with data analysis, interpretation, and reporting for a variety of infrastructure and development projects.
  • Working closely with senior ecologists and technical specialists to deliver high-quality outputs.
  • Contributing to fieldwork planning, H&S compliance, and project coordination.
  • Developing your technical skills through hands-on project work and structured mentoring.

What Were Looking For

  • Around 1-3 yearsexperience in ornithology or ecological fieldwork.
  • Good knowledge of Scottish bird species and survey methodologies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for fieldwork.
