Salary: £29,000–£34,000 (DOE)

About the Opportunity
A fantastic opportunity has opened for a Junior Ornithologist with around 1–3 years’ experience to join a highly respected environmental consultancy with a strong reputation for professional project delivery and exceptional technical standards.
With 25–30 staff in Scotland and an additional 120–150 across the UK, this is a well-established, recognised brand known for developing talented people and delivering high-quality work across the renewables, utilities, and residential sectors.
You’ll be joining a supportive, multidisciplinary team where you’ll gain exposure to a wide range of projects, benefit from structured development, and work alongside some of the most experienced ecologists and ornithologists in the UK.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting ornithological surveys across Scotland, including vantage point, breeding bird, and wintering bird surveys.
- Assisting with data analysis, interpretation, and reporting for a variety of infrastructure and development projects.
- Working closely with senior ecologists and technical specialists to deliver high-quality outputs.
- Contributing to fieldwork planning, H&S compliance, and project coordination.
- Developing your technical skills through hands-on project work and structured mentoring.
What We’re Looking For
- Around 1-3 years’ experience in ornithology or ecological fieldwork.
- Good knowledge of Scottish bird species and survey methodologies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for fieldwork.
