IT Category Manager

About the Role

As IT Category Manager, you’ll take ownership of procurement and contract management activities across a diverse organisation. You’ll lead tender processes, negotiate supplier agreements, and provide expert guidance to stakeholders, ensuring procurement outcomes align with strategic goals and deliver maximum value.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement for IT-related goods and services, including tendering, evaluation, and contract award.
• Lead supplier negotiations, contract reviews, and pricing discussions to secure optimal commercial outcomes.
• Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
• Provide strategic advice on procurement risk, compliance, and market trends.
• Promote procurement best practices and raise awareness across departments.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure procurement supports operational and strategic needs.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

• Full or working towards full membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS).
• Demonstrable procurement experience in either the public or private sector.
• Strong understanding of EU/GPA and Scottish procurement legislation.
• Proven experience in leading and motivating teams.

Desirable:

• Experience within the Higher Education sector.
