Environmental Clerk of Works (EnvCoW)
Location: Inverness (Hybrid)
Salary: £35,000 – £42,000
About the Role
We’re looking for an Environmental Clerk of Works (EnvCoW) to support a growing portfolio of projects across the Highlands and Islands. You’ll monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, planning conditions, method statements, and project-specific protection measures.
You’ll work across a range of renewable energy and grid-infrastructure developments- including overhead lines, substations, and associated works- helping clients deliver projects responsibly in some of Scotland’s most sensitive environments. The role offers a blend of site work, office work, and home working, with flexibility built in.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site inspections and monitor environmental protection measures
- Support compliance with ecological method statements, environmental plans, and planning conditions
- Advise on protected species legislation and habitat safeguards
- Oversee mitigation measures such as exclusion zones and pollution controls
- Monitor works in upland, coastal, and remote environments
- Produce clear site reports and maintain accurate environmental records
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulators
Experience & Qualifications
Essential: Relevant degree; construction-site environmental experience; strong understanding of environmental legislation; confident communicator; able to work independently; good awareness of site health and safety.
Desirable: Experience in renewable energy or grid infrastructure; CSCS card; protected species experience; water quality monitoring; 4x4/off-road driving skills.
