A leading professional services firm in Edinburgh is seeking a Document Production Assistant to join their Office Services team in Edinburgh City Centre. This is a key role supporting Partners and fee-earners with high-quality document creation, formatting and court-ready production.
Role Overview
You will produce, format and quality-check a wide range of legal documents, including complex court papers, correspondence, reports and bundles. The role involves audio and copy typing, preparing materials for hearings, drafting instructions to counsel and ensuring all documents meet strict accuracy and style standards. You will also convert documents into house style, run comparisons, remove metadata and troubleshoot formatting issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, format and update legal documents, court papers and correspondence
- Prepare bundles and papers for hearings and support court processes
- Transcribe audio and complete high-volume copy typing
- Use templates, styles, track changes and comparison tools
- Convert PDFs, resolve formatting issues and ensure documents meet firm standards
- Proofread, quality-check and remove metadata
- Log all work accurately in workflow systems and meet service level expectations
- Contribute to continuous improvement within the Document Production team
Candidate Requirements
A strong background in family law document production is essential for this role.
- Experience preparing, formatting and lodging family law court documents
- Knowledge of sheriff court and civil litigation processes, timelines and deadlines
- Strong administration and document production skills
- High accuracy, attention to detail and ability to manage complex formatting
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital dictation
- Experience in a professional services environment
- Confident communicator with discretion and confidentiality
- Proactive mindset and interest in improving document processes
