Bookkeeper

Role: Bookkeeper (13-Month FTC)
Location: Midlothian (hybrid working)
Salary: Up to £35,000 DOE

Eden Scott Accountancy & Finance Division is delighted to be supporting a friendly, ambitious and fast-growing business in Midlothian as they look to appoint an experienced Bookkeeper on a 13-month fixed-term contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing day-to-day financial processing, including supplier payments, sales income, and general ledger entries
• Overseeing the sales and purchase ledgers, ensuring accurate and timely posting of all transactions
• Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements
• Carrying out regular bank reconciliations and resolving any discrepancies
• Producing monthly financial reports, including cash flow updates, P&L summaries and balance sheet information
• Assisting with quarterly management accounts, providing clear insight into business performance
• Coordinating payroll activities and ensuring staff are paid accurately and on time
• Processing employee expenses and ensuring compliance with internal policies
• Supporting the Director of Finance and external advisors with year-end preparation and general administrative finance tasks

About You

We’re looking for someone who brings:

• Solid bookkeeping experience, ideally within a varied or multi-income-stream environment
• Strong understanding of ledgers, reconciliations and VAT
• Excellent attention to detail and confidence working independently
• Good communication skills and a proactive, organised approach
• Experience with accounting software and strong Excel capability
