How our National Teaching Assistant Programme works
We're on the lookout for enthusiastic, committed and passionate people, who want to start a career in education, to join our new National Teaching Assistant Programme.

With plenty of amazing opportunities for Teaching Assistants (TAs), now is a great time to join the sector. That’s why we're playing our part by developing a new talented cohort of TAs with the skills and guidance to work with us.

Getting to know you

Meet with one of our dedicated recruitment experts to discuss the programme, training and your suitability.
Places are limited, so we're looking for dedicated individuals with a genuine interest in becoming a Teaching Assistant.

Training and support

We'll provide free online training in essential areas such as safeguarding, behavior management and working with special educational needs and disabilities pupils, which you'll need to complete before starting your paid placement in a school. We're proud to offer ongoing guidance throughout your placement and beyond.

School-based experience

Undertake a paid in-school placement to help you gain valuable classroom experience. On completion of your training, we’ll obtain a reference from your placement school. Once we've received satisfactory references and completed our safer recruitment checks, you'll be ready to work for us.

We're looking for someone with:

  • A passion to work in education.
  • Varying levels of experience. Classroom-based experience is not required and we welcome applicant from a wide range of sectors, including healthcare, youth services, sport and retail.
  • A commitment to undertake virtual, evening training sessions.
  • Availability to complete a paid placement in a school.
  • Readiness to start working as a TA with us on completion of the programme.

What to expect:

We will offer guidance and support throughout your training, and upon completion of the programme, we will assist you in finding suitable Teaching Assistant roles.

While you're in the classroom, you'll be expected to: 
  • Work with children and young  people in small groups or on a one-to-one basis.
  • Offer targeted support for pupils with additional needs.
  • Assist the teacher with preparing the classroom and behaviour management.
