How our Cover Supervisor Programme works

Working together with North East Partnership SCITT, our Cover Supervisor Programme has been designed to help you elevate your teaching aspirations.

Getting to know you

Meet with one of our dedicated recruitment experts to discuss the programme, training and your suitability.
Places are limited, so we're looking for dedicated individuals with a genuine interest in becoming a Cover Supervisor.

Training and support

Complete three online mandatory training modules and one engaging face-to-face session, covering everything to help you shine in the classroom, including top tips for working on supply, safeguarding and behaviour management.

School-based experience

Undertake a paid in-school placement to help you gain valuable classroom experience. On completion of your training, we’ll obtain a reference from your placement school.
Once we've received satisfactory references and completed our safer recruitment checks, you'll be ready to work for us.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A passion to work in education.
  • The confidence to lead a class of around 30 students.
  • A commitment to undertake the training programme.
  • Readiness to start working as a Cover Supervisor with us on completion of the training programme.

While you're in the classroom, you'll be expected to:
  • Lead a class of children and young people following a pre-set lesson plan.
  • Deliver lessons across a range of subjects, particularly if you're working in a secondary setting.
  • Effectively manage behaviour and create a positive learning environment.
  • Accurately record attendance and provide a thorough handover for the class teacher.
