Position – CNC Machinist (Miller)

Location – Ashington   

Hourly Rate – Up to £17.26 per hour – 40% shift allowance for hours worked before 7.30 am and after 5 pm

Shifts –

06.00 – 14.00

14.00 – 22.30

About the company:

Theo James Recruitment is collaborating with a global leader in customized thermal management solutions for major electronics OEMs in the telecommunications, medical, military, aerospace, and space industries. They are looking for an enthusiastic Machinist to become a part of their rapidly expanding team.

 

Responsibilities

  • Independently program, set up and operate vertical CNC machining centres, particularly Mazak machines.
  • Manage production processes, including first-off, small to medium prototype runs, and medium to large batch quantities.
  • Develop and document machining procedures, ensuring alignment with established work instructions and tooling sheets.
  • Maintain high-quality standards for components, ensuring precision and adherence to tight tolerances throughout the machining process.
  • Achieve and maintain satisfactory production output levels.
  • Operate with a strong emphasis on Health & Safety protocols.
  • Uphold cleanliness and organization within the work area.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Completion of a recognized four-year machining apprenticeship.
  • BTEC - ONC in Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification such as EITB or City & Guilds.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a post-qualification machining role.
  • Proficient in working within both one-off prototype environments and high-volume batch production settings.
  • Skilled in setting up and operating Mazak CNC machines, with the ability to program using Mazatrol and ISO languages.
  • Capable of working independently and without supervision, demonstrating a strong initiative in task management.
