Octric Semiconductor is a new name in the compound semiconductor foundry space.  Its devices are used in mission critical defence and commercial applications.

 

For over 25-years, we have shipped over 1.5 billion devices from our site to date.

 

Octric has ambitious plans to grow the company and expand with new products and applications, and the company is developing a 10-year investment plan. We now have a bright new path ahead of us following the recent significant investment from the UK Ministry of Defence.  As a part of an emerging semiconductor cluster in the northeast, we are focussed on developing advanced technology, focussed on the next generation of semiconductors. Located in Newton Aycliffe, UK, we occupy a 10,000 m2 purpose-built Class 100 manufacturing facility fully equipped to produce state of the art compound semiconductor product.

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

 

We are looking for a highly experienced senior Manager of Quality to oversee our quality assurance function and activities within our semiconductor manufacturing operation. The primary responsibility of the role is to develop and implement an end-to-end operational quality strategy, processes, systems, tools, team and sustainable culture, to improve business efficiency and time-to-market.

 

You will also be a change agent by driving improvement through the organization, based on detailed root cause analysis and quality data, in order to meet quality business objectives.

In addition you will partner with heads of functions and their staff on continuous improvement, collaborate with customers, and work with other parts of the organization as needed.

 

 

 

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Validate processes and process control methodologies.
  • Implement end-to-end change control methodologies.
  • Define and manage material review board / change processes.
  • Improve New Product Introduction (NPI) process with all functions, to ensure that time-to-quality in volume ramp meets market expectations.
  • Develop and manage reliability & failure analysis resources and processes.
  • Communicate failure pareto to department leaders for improvement, manage continuous improvement activity to drive Fab to zero defects.
  • Ensure detailed & timely customer returns (RMA) analysis, respond to customers via 8D.
  • Available for communication with customers on quality improvement activity.
  • Locally manage quality related functions including ISO compliance, document control.
  • Drive corrective action plans resulting from internal 8D and 3rd party audits.
  • Implement and manage cost of quality and corporate KPI programs for waste reduction, efficiency and quality improvements

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Experience

  • At least 10 years of experience in a high-tech discrete manufacturing / quality management in a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Leadership & management experience, including management and delivery of cross-functional projects.

Special Skills & Qualities

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal & written english communication and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to both think strategically and execute in a hands-on detailed way
  • Well versed in the use of statistical analysis techniques
  • High energy / change catalyst
  • Good PC skills including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Positive attitude, creating a good impression on others Ability to actively participate in a variety of teams, support the team objectives

Education/Qualifications

BSc in Engineering, physics or other relevant field. Additional higher degree desirable.
