Job Title: HSE Manager 

Salary: Up to £50,000 depending on experience 

Benefits:

Location: Peterlee 

Hours: 8am – 5pm Monday to Thursday & 8am – 1pm Friday

Responsibilities 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion company values and foster a strong safety culture throughout the business.
  • Take overall responsibility for managing HSE systems, including maintaining our UKAS-accredited ISO 14001 certification.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with HSE legislation, keeping up to date with changes and identifying potential business impacts.
  • Lead risk assessments and provide expert guidance to risk owners on effective management strategies.
  • Develop, implement, and communicate safe operating procedures and best practices.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with directors to develop strategies and policies that align with HSE objectives.
  • Deliver engaging HSE training to managers and employees, promoting awareness of health and safety risks.
  • Maintain records, prepare detailed reports, and present data-driven insights to the senior management team.
  • Oversee the safe installation of equipment and ensure waste, including hazardous materials, is disposed of legally and efficiently.
  • Provide advice on specialist topics such as fire safety, hazardous substances, safeguarding machinery, and occupational health.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to embed environmental awareness and HSE excellence across the workforce.

 

Skills and Requirements: 

NEBOSH General or Diploma Certificare 

Experience in similar senior or leadership HSE roles, ideally within an automotive, engineering, or production environment.

Accredited ISO 14001 Auditor with strong knowledge of risk-based decision-making, process improvement tools, and Microsoft Office.
