About the Role
As the Director of Technical Accounting, you will play a critical role in overseeing the technical accounting function, driving strategic financial decision-making, and ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SEC reporting standards. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally on major business initiatives and serve as the key liaison for external auditors and internal stakeholders on complex accounting matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the assessment, research, and documentation of US GAAP and SEC reporting impacts related to complex transactions.
- Collaborate with accounting and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and operational execution.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors on technical accounting matters and policy updates.
- Drive adoption of new accounting standards and company policies, including developing supporting documentation and workflows.
- Draft, review, and maintain technical accounting policies and training materials.
- Manage accounting for business combinations, divestitures, impairments, and other significant transactions.
- Provide accounting support for capital raises and other strategic financial events.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting; CPA required
- 8–10+ years of experience, ideally a combination of Big 4 public accounting and industry technical accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting in a public company environment.
- Expertise in revenue recognition, lease accounting, debt, fixed assets, and M&A accounting.
- Proven ability to analyze and document complex transactions in technical memorandums.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- High degree of initiative and ability to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint); Workiva experience a plus.
