Consultant Ecologist

Edinburgh | Hybrid | £30,000 - £34,000 + Benefits

I'm working with a growing multidisciplinary environmental consultancy looking to appoint a Consultant Ecologist to join its expanding biodiversity team in Edinburgh.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ecologist with around 2+ years' consultancy experience who is keen to develop their career within a collaborative team delivering projects across infrastructure, renewable energy, residential and commercial development.

The Role

You'll support the delivery of a wide range of ecological projects, including:

  • Habitat and protected species surveys
  • Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA)
  • Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments and strategies
  • Planning applications and environmental assessments
  • Client and stakeholder engagement
  • Technical report writing and project support

You will also gain exposure to multidisciplinary projects while working alongside experienced ecology and environmental professionals.

About You

We're keen to speak with candidates who have:

  • A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or a related discipline
  • At least 2 years' professional ecology experience
  • A good understanding of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy
  • Experience undertaking ecological surveys and report writing
  • Exposure to Biodiversity Net Gain and the Defra Biodiversity Metric
  • Membership of, or eligibility for, CIEEM
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
